As part of the Environmental Design program, we create an "iconic" representation of our thesis. The renderings to the left are the initial proposed idea. I had those finished before I even started the real one.

The constructed ring you see below is solid plastic and about 12" in diameter. It was created by casting ribbons of coloured polyester on a strip of acrylic, which was then cast inside a larger ring of acrylic (sanded and polished). The stones were sliced with a diamond blade to hold the ring.

Situations

Before planning the centre, snap shots or "situations" of the centre are created to illustrated the feeling and scale of the project. Little or no regards are given to the way they will fit together, as this is more about getting ideas out, then making them work. In the next stage, Planning, the situations are worked into the actual layout of the building.
