| When cities make their bid to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), many give free gifts that are meant to keep their city in the mind of the IOC members. To be more effective the gift should engage the user while communicating something about the city and its bid.
This discus was designed for the Toronto Olympic Bid. With the theme of "Unity Through Games" the Toronto Bid Committee would show how people of Toronto play each day with each other. Whether in the work place or in the school yard, people overcome racism, sexism, and cultural barriers to peacefully coexist.
Similarly this discus is a simple memory game that requires two players. The Olympic rings (two sets - one for each player), will light up and then expect the user to repeat the pattern. There are two different patterns each time, one for each player. The game will add one more in the sequence each time a round is successfully completed.
This display model is made from wood and paper, and is 6.5" in diameter. |
